For The
Birmingham Promise
Scholarship.
Our scholarships for Birmingham City Schools graduates cover tuition and mandatory fees at any two- or four-year Alabama public college or university after Pell grants and other financial aid. Some students may still need loans to cover expenses for things like housing and books, but Birmingham Promise can significantly reduce the costs of college and reduce barriers to a higher education.

You can further explore college financial aid options by visiting
https://decided.moneythink.org/students/.
Just as important as the financial support, each of our students is also assigned a success coach to help them stay in college and make the most of the experience. Regular sessions with your student success coach are a condition of the Birmingham Promise scholarship program.
Requirements:
There are no GPA requirements set by Birmingham Promise, although individual institutions have their own entrance rules that our students still must meet.

EBSCO Special
Subject
Scholarship
EBSCO™ is generously providing up to $10,000 divided across two school years (up to $5000 each year), for rising juniors in high-growth fields. Qualifying students in good standing with Birmingham Promise who meet the criteria below are eligible to apply. Decisions will be made based on the strength of each application and the extent of each applicant’s financial need.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a 3rd-year/rising junior enrolled at a Birmingham Promise covered institution.
- Be majoring in STEM, Healthcare, Education, Computer Science, or Business.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Have a 2.5 minimum GPA.
How It’s Applied
Each scholarship recipient will receive the award via payments made directly to their school after the Fall add/drop period. The student’s senior year will follow the same format pending Birmingham Promise renewal and adherence to its guidelines. The funds can be applied to school expenses not typically covered by The Birmingham Promise, such as housing, books, meal plans, parking, and other costs associated with the pursuit of higher education.
Things To Keep In Mind
This scholarship is subject to the standards listed in the Birmingham Promise Policy & Guidelines, Section B (Continued Eligibility) and Section D (Loss of Eligibility). Please refer to the named documents for reference.
